Library Advisory Committee

Introduction

The Library Advisory Committee of Shillong Commerce College was set up with an aim to support proper functioning of the College Library. The Committee works as a link between the Academic Fraternity and the College Management.

 

The Committee is constituted of the following members: -

2. Asst. Prof. Sashi Teibor Laloo – Dept. of History
3. Smt. Alyssa Swer – Library Assistant
4. Smt. Pynlang Syiem – Library Assistant

Aims and Objectives

The Objectives of the Committee are: -
➢ To Provide general direction to library
➢ To review the functioning of the library with regards to its support to the academic programmes of the college.
➢ To monitor and evaluate, from time to time, trends and developments in Information Technologies, Networking, Library Automation, Library Cooperation, etc. and to guide the library in their adoption.
➢ To evaluate the suggestions made by the library users.
➢ To formulate the policy for library, use and procedure to the framed.
➢ To assist library in providing need-based information services.
➢ To review the requirements of the new programmes being introduces and advise library accordingly.
➢ Evaluate the books procurement department-wise and allocation of budget accordingly.
➢ To evaluate procurement of books and recommend list of books for purchase.
