Red Ribbon Club

Introduction

The red ribbon, as an awareness ribbon, is used as the symbol for the solidarity of people living with HIV/AIDS, and for the awareness and prevention of drug abuse and drunk driving. The Red Ribbon foundation is an organization founded in 1993 whose main purpose is the education about prevention of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus or HIV, Acquired Deficiency Syndrome Related Complex, ARC and AIDS.

Red Ribbon Club is a movement started by the Government of India in schools and colleges through which, students will spread awareness over HIV / AIDS. It envisages to instill a charitable mindset amongst the students to extend their able help towards developing healthy life styles,
donating blood to all the needy by promotion of Regular voluntary blood donation.

Aims and Objectives

  • To promote voluntary non-remunerated blood donation among youth.
  • Channelizing the energy of the youth in a positive direction.
  • Provide access to correct information on sexuality, HIV/AIDS, STI and other youth related issues in an enabling environment to promote healthy life style
  • Promote voluntary non-remunerated blood donation.

Strategies of RRC

  • Conduct Awareness campaigns
  • Intra and inter college competitions
  • Organizing various HIV/AIDs & STU related programmes, seminars and competitions
  • Planning and implementing outreach activities for HIV awareness etc.
