Shillong Commerce College began its journey as a single stream college in June 1967 with just a handful of students. More than five decades have gone by and the College has grown from strength to strength. In the year 2019, the College took another step forward in opening the Arts stream and the response was very encouraging. The College is geared towards upholding the foundational pillars of NEP 2020, namely Access, Equity, Quality, Affordability, and Accountability.

For education to be worthy of its name, it must not only encompass information, concepts and facts but also underline attitudes and values as life’s challenges are getting more complex day by day. It is our endeavour to prepare our students to face the inevitability of challenges in life. Academic excellence is an empty accomplishment if not anchored together with the values of honesty, integrity and compassion. Our objective is to mould them into intellectually and emotionally mature, wholesome individuals who are able to handle the pressures of life. We strive to provide equal opportunity to all students so that each one can realize his/her full potential. Besides academic learning, co-curricular activities are also encouraged as such activities boosts student confidence, teamwork, and critical thinking
